FAQ

All your burning skincare questions, answered honestly

The Basics

What makes Lune Ritual different from other luxury skincare brands?

We're not here to sell you a 47-step routine or make wild promises about turning back time. We create high-performance, clean formulations that actually work—backed by science, not just pretty packaging. Every product earns its place in your routine.

Are your products really "clean"?

Yes, but let's define that. "Clean" has become a meaningless marketing term, so here's what it means to us: No parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or phthalates. We use ingredients that are both safe AND effective. Everything is cruelty-free and made in North America with recyclable packaging.

Why are your products priced the way they are?

Real talk: Quality ingredients are expensive. Hyaluronic acid, stabilized vitamin C, and properly formulated retinol cost significantly more than filler ingredients. We use clinical-grade actives at concentrations that actually make a difference. You're paying for what's IN the bottle, not the marketing campaign.

Product Questions

Can I use the Collagen and Retinol Serum if I've never used retinol before?

Start slow. Use it 2x per week at night, always followed by moisturizer. If your skin's happy after two weeks, bump it up to every other night. Some mild dryness or flaking is normal at first—that's the retinol doing its job. If irritation persists, scale back.

What's the difference between your serums? Do I need all of them?

  • Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($98): Pure hydration. Use it daily, everyone needs this.
  • Collagen and Retinol Serum ($125): Your anti-aging powerhouse. Use at night.
  • Age Defying Serum ($115): Gentler alternative with squalane and peptides. Great for sensitive skin or retinol off-nights.
  • Anti-aging Rose Gold Oil ($88): Nourishing finisher. Use as your last PM step.

You don't need all of them. Start with one that addresses your main concern.

Is the Rose Quartz Roller just a gimmick?

Look, it's not going to restructure your face. But lymphatic drainage is real, the cooling effect does reduce puffiness, and it helps products absorb better. Plus, it feels amazing. Keep it in the fridge and use it on puffy mornings—you'll get it.

What's actually in the Glow Mask that makes it work?

Activated charcoal (the real stuff, not the Instagram kind) pulls out impurities. Sodium bicarbonate gently exfoliates. Kaolin clay absorbs excess oil without stripping. It's basically a facial in a jar, minus the awkward small talk.

Usage & Routines

Can I mix different serums together?

Yes, with some caveats:

  • Hyaluronic Acid plays well with everything
  • Vitamin C (morning) + Retinol (night) = keep them separated
  • Peptides + Direct acids = they cancel each other out
  • When in doubt, layer thinnest to thickest

How much product should I actually use?

  • Serums: 3-4 drops (a little goes a long way)
  • Moisturizers: Nickel-sized amount
  • Eye Cream: Rice grain-sized for both eyes
  • Face Oil: 2-3 drops max

Using more won't make it work better—it'll just waste product and potentially clog pores.

Do I really need separate eye cream?

The skin around your eyes is thinner and more delicate, so yes, it benefits from targeted treatment. Our Active Eye Cream ($135) is formulated specifically for that area. But if you're on a budget, you can carefully pat your regular serum around your eyes.

Morning vs. night products—does it really matter?

Yes. Some ingredients (like retinol) break down in sunlight. Others (like vitamin C) work best as daytime antioxidants. We've labeled our products for optimal use, but here's the quick guide:

  • AM: Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, lightweight moisturizers
  • PM: Retinol, rich moisturizers, face oils

Results & Expectations

How long until I see results?

Depends on what you're looking for:

  • Hydration: Immediately (seriously, hyaluronic acid works fast)
  • Brightness/Glow: 2-4 weeks
  • Fine lines: 6-8 weeks
  • Deep wrinkles/Major changes: 3-6 months

Skincare is a marathon, not a sprint. Anyone promising overnight miracles is lying.

Why did my skin get worse before it got better?

Welcome to "purging"—when actives like retinol speed up cell turnover, they can bring underlying congestion to the surface. This usually lasts 2-4 weeks. If it's lasting longer or you're getting irritation (not just breakouts), scale back usage.

Can your products really help with [insert specific concern]?

  • Acne scars: Yes, retinol and rose hip oil help with regeneration
  • Dark spots: Vitamin C is your friend
  • Dryness: Hyaluronic acid + rich moisturizer
  • Oiliness: Don't skip moisture—dehydrated skin overproduces oil
  • Sensitivity: Stick to our gentler options (Age Defying Serum, no retinol)

Ingredients & Safety

Are your products safe during pregnancy/breastfeeding?

Avoid the Collagen and Retinol Serum (retinol is a no-go). Everything else should be fine, but always check with your doctor because we're skincare experts, not medical professionals.

I have sensitive skin. What should I avoid?

Start with our gentlest options: Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Anti-aging Rose Gold Oil. Avoid retinol initially. Always patch test. If your skin throws a tantrum at everything, see a dermatologist—you might have an underlying condition.

Do your products contain essential oils?

Some products contain natural fragrance from botanical extracts, but we avoid high concentrations of essential oils that can be irritating. If you're sensitive to all fragrances, stick to our fragrance-free options.

What's the deal with "natural" vs. "synthetic" ingredients?

Natural isn't always better (poison ivy is natural). Synthetic isn't always bad (many are bio-identical to natural compounds). We choose ingredients based on safety and efficacy, not whether they came from a plant or a lab.

The Real Questions

Is this just another overpriced skincare brand?

If you're looking for the cheapest option, we're not it. If you want clinical-grade ingredients, thoughtful formulations, and products that actually deliver results, then no—you're getting what you pay for.

Can't I just use drugstore products?

You can! Some drugstore products are great. But you'll often find lower active concentrations, more filler ingredients, and less elegant formulations. It's like comparing a Honda to a Tesla—both will get you there, but the experience is different.

What if products don't work for me?

Email us. Seriously. We want you to love your skin, and if something's not working, we'll help troubleshoot. Sometimes it's about adjusting your routine, sometimes a product just isn't right for your skin. We get it.

Do I need your entire line to see results?

Absolutely not. Start with 1-2 products that address your main concerns. You can build from there if you want, but a simple routine done consistently beats a complicated one you'll abandon.
